first encounter

Found another one in the collection with the ‘fly guy’ tune in the post below.

This was a tune I recorded a couple of times. It’s called “First Encounter.” For those of you who know our song, “Turn My Egg” about the six foot rabbit named Charlie Babbit, this tune is the prequel of sorts. None of this makes any sense, but it’s creativity with no purpose other than to put some interesting chord changes together and try and make a little groovy funky thing with a story to tell. I had a laptop with a crappy recording software program on it, a crappy mic, a bunch of random instruments, and, evidently, plenty of extra time between the hours of 2am and 5am.

There are two versions I found… one that was labeled “Vancouver Demo” because I was traveling to BC and decided to hand out some demo CD’s to random Canadians. The other one is labeled “old,” which means it was probably the original version. This latter one has a fantastic Nintendo-esque synth solo in the middle (starts at the 1:24 mark), so I think I prefer it.

“First Encounter” (Vancouver Demo)

“First Encounter” (Old)

Thanks for listening to these little numbers… you’re the first to hear them since Fred and my mom 12 years ago.
